Chelsea travel to face Wolves this afternoon with Frank Lampard back in the dugout.

While the club is contacting potential candidates being considered for the permanent manager’s job, Lampard has taken on an interim charge until the end of the season and will look to steady the ship.

There is little now to play for in the Premier League, but with a trip to Real Madrid to come next week in the Champions League quarter-finals, the need for the Blues to find some confidence is an urgent one.

Wolves, henceforth, are still at risk of being dragged into the relegation scrap so it will be fighting for their lives this afternoon.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Chelsea vs Wolves is scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off time today on Saturday April 8, 2023.

Molineux in Wolverhampton will host the contest.

Wolves vs Chelsea team news

Boubacar Traore is closing in on a return for Wolves but Ruben Neves and Jonny are suspended. Hugo Bueno and Hwang Hee-chan are in contention, though Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho remain sidelined.

For Chelsea, it is very difficult to predict what lineup Lampard will go for. N’Golo Kante’s minutes will surely be managed with Madrid in mind, while Mason Mount could also feature.

However, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta and Armando Broja are all still in the treatment room.
