Heathrow strike called off for entirety

Strikes over proposed outsourcing plans at Heathrow Airport were called off yesterday for the first two days to allow last-minute talks, Unite Union announced. However, the rest of the strike was still due to go ahead.

The strikes were due to take place 7-13 May but have now been completely called off following discussions between Unite and the airport. The strike was due to involve up to 800 airport workers, many customer-facing, but it was not clear what the impact would have been.

Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay sold to Spanish-owned Catalonia Hotels

The Kevin Hendrickson-led East Bay Management has announced that it has entered into a binding agreement with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts to sell the property known as the Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay Jamaica.

Hendrickson acquired the property in 2008 from IHG and has successfully run the property as an IHG franchise for the past 16 years. The sale of the resort is subject to customary closing conditions.

Proposal to turn Cutler Bay hotel into apartments for homeless stirring controversy – NBC 6 South Florida

A La Quinta Inn and Suites Hotel is another step closer to being transformed into housing for adults looking to get out of homeless shelters in South Florida.

Landsec sells $400m UK hotel portfolio to Ares and EQ Group | News

UK real estate investment trust Landsec has sold its entire hotel portfolio to Ares Real Estate funds and EQ Group for £400m (€465m) as part of a plan to focus its resources on core sectors with a “competitive advantage”.

Landsec said the hotel portfolio concentrated in London and other major UK cities, was sold to Ares alongside its operating partner EQ at a price slightly below the assets’ September 2023 book value of £404m.
